Arc'teryx Granville Zip 16 Pack vs peak design everyday backpack zip 15l - 20l

I’ve been using the Arc’teryx Granville 16, I’ve had it for a couple of years as one of my commute bags but find I use it more often than not because it’s so light, minimal and waterproof (one of my main criteria living in Scotland). I think there’s a small lashing point at the bottom (for a bike light) and handy quick access external pocket at the top, alongside a bigger one at the front that you can get to through a big vertical zip. Would easily swallow your main carry items with a decent amount of space left over I reckon!

I really like the 15L Everyday Zip. I used to have a 20L Everyday Backpack but it’s a bit big especially after I downsized to a mirrorless with two lens set up.

My main issue is despite the description/advertising, it is very much not water resistant. The zips have frequently leaked water onto my laptop when carrying in moderate-heavy rain. Not a huge lack, but definitely some drops are getting through and that's not good for a laptop. They call the zips "watertight" and they look the part, but it has not been good for me

I have had it a while now, and it is still not comfortable on the back. If you do not have a laptop in the bag, it is better. If you have a laptop in the bag, it is like having a stiff board against your back. Either way, not comfortable

There is this nifty little zipper on the inside that allows access to the front side-zip compartment form the main compartment (zipper shown in the laptop detail picture). Speaking about the side zip, it provides easy access on the go by just swinging one side of the strap off your shoulder and around your body. Super convenient. Well made, great quality however the shoulder straps are too thin and the material they’re made of is a bit slippery so if you have it over one shoulder it’s consistently slipping off and needs adjustment. The back of the bag could do with some padding and the shape is a bit odd. Weirdly top heavy looking. And the grab handle on the top is a bit thin

Unfortunately, the laptop sleeve on this bag is incredibly small and doesn't come close to fitting my 15" Surface Book 2.

I would make the size of the bag just a bit smaller for people like me with a smaller frame.
