I bought this as my "do everything everyday in the city" pack. The size is ideal for me. I carry a laptop to work everyday, and i can squeeze in gym gear too. If you want to carry lunch AND gym gear AND a laptop, that's probably not going to work unless your gym gear doesn't include shoes.

I’ve been using the Arc’teryx Granville 16, I’ve had it for a couple of years as one of my commute bags but find I use it more often than not because it’s so light, minimal and waterproof (one of my main criteria living in Scotland). I think there’s a small lashing point at the bottom (for a bike light) and handy quick access external pocket at the top, alongside a bigger one at the front that you can get to through a big vertical zip.

Well made, great quality however the shoulder straps are too thin and the material they’re made of is a bit slippery so if you have it over one shoulder it’s consistently slipping off and needs adjustment. I have nothing bad to say about this pack, my only issue is the logo peeled off my bag within two weeks of having it.
