Osprey Daylite Plus Pack vs Osprey Fairview 40 Travel Pack - Women's

The comfiest backpack I've ever had. If I'm doing a serious dayhike, this is the bag I'm taking.

(which is actually 38L in XS/S). Though I haven't used it for anything extensive like a 20-day hike, for walking in cities, in transit, and hiking, I've really liked it and it's been comfortable for me. It doesn't have a camera compartment but I usually carry 2 SLR cameras with me and it's worked for me!

* Osprey Daylite *PLUS* 20L. * My personal favourite so far, but fitting it in my main bag + all the other gear is my concern.

I ended up returning both, since a 19" size would have been my preference due to airline restrictions. If I were to keep one, I would have kept the S/M due to the shoulder strap placement making the pack ride more comfortably. I am 5'2" and according to the Osprey fitting chart with my torso length either size would work.

-I find the cross straps also annoying, they feel in the way when you're trying to pack things and hurry quickly and I largely use them to secure the water bottle since it falls out due to the instability of this pack but its very annoying to need to clip each time when you're just trying to access the main compartment for your jacket when the stash pocket on front doesn't fit a jacket in the first place

It's also means have to keep more things in the main compartment, all jumbled together. But, if my deal-breakers aren't important to you, it may be a great bag. The straps are well-designed, and the laptop pocket is padded. I've been carrying my laptop in an older Osprey bag which has a very similar pocket without padding (probably not originally designed for a laptop) and I do really like that bag

As others have noted, the laptop in the front creates a real problem. For reference, I was able to fit the same amount of stuff into my son's Topo rover bag-which is only 20L and it felt much lighter because the laptop was in the back. For someone taller and heavier this might not be an issue. It has a clamshell opening, padded laptop compartment with velcro closure, a great hideable hip and sternum strap, and very high-quality handles

Pros: Very well ventilated shoulder straps and backing. Sleek design with nice cinch straps. Nice size main compartment and mid pocket. Zippers don't snag and seem of very good quality with pull attachments on each zipper(very nice not chintzy)
