Arc'teryx Granville Zip 16 Pack vs Osprey transporter zip top

I’ve been using the Arc’teryx Granville 16, I’ve had it for a couple of years as one of my commute bags but find I use it more often than not because it’s so light, minimal and waterproof (one of my main criteria living in Scotland). I think there’s a small lashing point at the bottom (for a bike light) and handy quick access external pocket at the top, alongside a bigger one at the front that you can get to through a big vertical zip. Would easily swallow your main carry items with a decent amount of space left over I reckon!

My main issue is despite the description/advertising, it is very much not water resistant. The zips have frequently leaked water onto my laptop when carrying in moderate-heavy rain. Not a huge lack, but definitely some drops are getting through and that's not good for a laptop. They call the zips "watertight" and they look the part, but it has not been good for me

The inner design of the laptop sleeve. They seemed to have changed the design between their pixel and this transporter bag. Previously, the sleeve is part of the entire component of the bag in their pixel. But for their transporter zip top, they seemed to have separated this

There is this nifty little zipper on the inside that allows access to the front side-zip compartment form the main compartment (zipper shown in the laptop detail picture). Speaking about the side zip, it provides easy access on the go by just swinging one side of the strap off your shoulder and around your body. Super convenient. The bag also has a small loop on the front face for a bike light or anything you can hook onto it

Well made, great quality however the shoulder straps are too thin and the material they’re made of is a bit slippery so if you have it over one shoulder it’s consistently slipping off and needs adjustment. The back of the bag could do with some padding and the shape is a bit odd. Weirdly top heavy looking. And the grab handle on the top is a bit thin

And finally, Osprey provides an attachable shoulder strap that can turn the Transporter 40 into a messenger bag. We like to keep this strap in the hideaway harness sleeve so it’s always there if we need it, but you can opt to leave it at home if it’s not your thing. To attach the strap, simply clip the carabiners on each end to the attachment points on either side of the bag. It’s nice and straight-forward

I do have a Patagonia Black Hole Duffel, and while I like how durable it feels, the shoulder straps and harness system are trash in comparison to the Osprey Transporter duffel. I am doing a comparison of the two duffels to see which I will keep, and due to a shoulder injury, comfort and stability of the harness system are a priority.

Unfortunately, the laptop sleeve on this bag is incredibly small and doesn't come close to fitting my 15" Surface Book 2.

What a great bag this is!!!! Durable premium material! Spacious and a compartment with extra padding at the bottom to protect the laptop! Absolutely loved it. Highly recommended but bare in mind that it is a 30lt bag and I am a tall guy(1.93m) so size-wise it might be a bit big for everyday use for some people.

What happens then, is that the main component of the bag has a hollow bottom (like a cave) that just makes the bag awkward when putting documents. Documents can't sit flat inside the bag (see video) and I just don't feel secure putting my items (such as a keyboard) inside of it due to the off chance that it snaps. I bought the bag in USA, but have since left the country. I will be contacting Osprey to see if they can arrange some form of return (If Osprey's customer service is reading this, please contact me if possible)
