the padding is more on the firmer side which i like because it doesn't seem like the padding will wear out as fast. the laptop compartment is amazing. super cushy and a generous false bottom with a bit of structure in the back panel makes me feel very confident my laptop is protected. I wish they gave just a touch more room in the tablet sleeve though

Got this bag for commuting to work and it’s great—love the different pockets, laptop sleeve, padded straps, and actually found the key ring hook to be the most useful feature. The only downside to the water proof material is that while it looks really sleek and indeed keeps out moisture, it also shows wear EXTREMELY quickly. I’m talking a finger nail scratch will scuff this bag and stay forever. So, while I’ve had it less than a month and been pretty careful with it, it looks like it’s had nine lives

It is nice feature that they don't include in the on the Recon or Borealis. Overall would recommend this backpack for students or those who need a daily commuter work backpack, (I had one when I was an auditor in the pass). But not the greatest weekend travel backpack if that is what you are looking for you might want to get the Router.

While this pack is a perfect size for minimalist carry on, at first I found it to be a bad fit. As a guy with a L or XL torso: the sternum strap was nearly at my neck at the lower of the two settings. I moved it to the very bottom of the padded strap, and it works much better but I had to let out all of the slack in the straps. As some has mentioned, access isn’t the best but it does have a good feature set

Other than that, will likely use this as my daily carry when I'm done with my trip since I liked it a lot other than these issues.

I was looking for a small-ish bag to carry things to and from the office, and on short trips. This is a waterproof, elegant looking, very spacious little backpack. We hiked through WA and OR in multiple conditions and there’s not one scratch on my (gray) backpack! It got a little tossed around in the car also and it looks brand new. I even went underneath some trees on our hikes and I could just wipe off the dirt, without any other scratches, etc.
