Once again, against relentless competition from other brands, the Gossamer Gear Mariposa holds its place at the top of the fleet. Marketed as a 60-liter pack, the Mariposa can carry up to 64 liters when stuffed to the brim. For some, this may feel like too much room for an ultralight pack, as the more room you have, the more you may end up filling with unnecessary gear. It isn't the lightest in our review, though its 2.5-pound total weight and 14g/L weight-to-volume ratio are impressive. Plus, its slightly heavier weight added a level of comfort that was hard to beat.

Despite the sub-2-pound build (for the medium frame and hipbelt), it offers 60 liters of capacity spread out between a main compartment and seven exterior pockets, and is impressively supportive for loads up to 35 pounds (we took it right up to the limit). It helps me stand up straighter when I'm hiking and It also gives me some breathability as you can see a lot of my back is exposed You know can slip my hand through how that really hurt But yeah That's just how I like to wear the pack everything's just tight enough to where the pack doesn't bounce around and move around too much But you know super comfortable pack worn it for hours and hours on end But yeah another advantage to having super loose straps is When my shoulders get tired and start hurting I can just slip my arms in Keep my hands like this takes the weight off my shoulders. Let's gives my arms a rest That magnetic Clip makes it super easy and convenient, you know, if I need water just keeps the tube right here and That water bottle holder also makes it easier to get water versus trying to like have a Try and reach back here that just that hurts a lot So I just keep this right here But yeah, that's that's me with the bag That's that's me with the pack again

So Let's head back inside because it's freezing out, you know, give you my thoughts and opinions on it So I've owned this pack for a year and a half Probably got anywhere from a couple to a few hundred miles into it Mostly day hikes to get a good workout in but also lots of overnight trips and weekend trips as well It's a great pack very comfortable Has never caused me any pain There's lots of space inside and I really like all the pockets For quick and easy access and allowing me to organize everything how I want if the dog does go with me on a trip There's still plenty of room left over which makes it easier to add all of his stuff as well Packs got no signs of wear and tear like none Maybe few dirt stains and the occasional loose thread, but that's easily fixed with a lighter The shoulder straps and hip belt cushioning still like new no issues there The only gripe I could think of is that none of the pack material is waterproof, but very few packs have that feature I would definitely buy this pack again

Gossamer Gear Mariposa 60 - Long Longterm Review

 I was a little skeptical about this pad that they have in the back of the pack here but it was surprisingly comfortable and breathable. So I used Gossamer Gear's optional cell phone pocket and it's this little nylon pocket. It's padded. It velcros right to the shoulder strap and it worked really well to keep my phone out of the water and protected

 It got a little deeper than what I anticipated because I'm wet all the way up to my chest strap. The chest strap has this piece of elastic right here which makes the strap pretty comfortable, allows a little bit of flex there. The hip strap has this nice plastic clip, very sturdy, easy enough to adjust with these straps. It has two hip pockets there, very nice for carrying things like bug spray or your pocket knife

 There's another pocket on the top here. On the back there's this mesh pocket which was great for carrying my water shoes because I knew that they would dry out easily inside the mesh pocket so there's plenty of storage on the outside of this pack. On the bottom there are these two plastic clips that are made for carrying trekking poles and there's also this lashing loop which is made for carrying something like an ice axe. There are two adjustable straps with clips on this side and on this side so you just undo those two clips

 It's a 60 liter backpack from Gossamer Gear and I was able to use it this past weekend on a backpacking trip in north Georgia. I did 3 days and 25 miles and I have to say I was really, really impressed with this pack. The weight in the pack, it really carried well. Most of the packs that I've tried after, you know, 15, 20 miles, it starts to really wear on your hips

 I bought a used large Mariposa but find that when it's heavily loaded it hits my ass, no matter how I adjust it. I love those packs but haven't quite figured out the fit and I can't really return the used gear.

I come from a Scouting backpacking background where as an adult I have to carry way too much gear. I’m doing way more backpacking with my friends and really enjoying cutting weight. I’m at the point where my backpack is the next most logical place to drop significant lbs as it currently makes up about 25% of my base weight.  I’m looking for a pack in the 55 liter (+/-) range and around 2lbs (+/-). Most of my trips are long weekends. I love my Mystery Ranch Glacier but it is way too big and heavy for short trips where I’m not loaded down with backup gear for the kids. Thanks for any recommendations.

Looking for Pack recommendations

 It has another side pocket on the top here that is wonderful. The big pockets on the side for water bottles here I put two one liter water bottles in this side and this side I put my trekking pole or even my tent can go on this side. This long pocket at the top. Anyway just a great pack and it carries a lot of weight very well

 I just bought this pack with my own money and absolutely love it. It's well made. I'll put the fabric on here but this Rovik fabric I think it is is very sturdy and has had no issues for the last two and a half years. But adding this sit pad on the back it goes from a 9 to a 10 for me because it is so much more comfortable

 Sometimes I'll use a granite gear pack but most of the time I really like the Gossamer Gear Mariposa. It's a 60 liter pack. I'll put some of the specifications, the specs on the screen here about it but it has this great mesh panel on the front. It's got a good side pocket and what sold me on it as you've seen before is this longer side pocket on one side

 It has kind of a u-shaped frame running down the inside and it has this great place to put the pad in and then everything is attached there at the bottom. So a wonderful, wonderful place for that. I thought about getting a z-seed or something else and put it in there but then I saw this and you can see just how more substantial the foam is on this. How well it's made around the corners, all the stitching and it really is a comfortable pad

6 ounces—significantly less than the medium version of the Mariposa with a hipbelt. But with only three external pockets (none of which zip), the Arc Blast is limited in its organizational capacity, and we find that it doesn’t carry a load as well. If pack weight is your number one consideration, it’s hard to argue against the Arc Blast. But we give the overall edge to the Gossamer Gear Mariposa for its added carrying comfort, organization, and durability

 Similar to the Mariposa, the Flash excels at comfort and support, even with heavier loads, but REI doesn’t offer the same convenience of customizing torso lengths and hipbelt sizes. And at 2 pounds 3 ounces for the most stripped-down version (i.e. no top lid or hipbelt pockets), the Flash 55 is still heavier than the fully featured Mariposa

6 ounces. This is competitive with many other leading UL packs designs including the Hyperlite 3400 Southwest (2 lbs. That said, Dyneema is prone to puncturing from sharp rocks and other objects and is less durable overall than the Mariposa’s Robic construction. All told, the Gossamer Gear wins out in the organization and durability categories, but the Hyperlite’s waterproof design is alluring for those who hike in wet environments

 The sternum strap uses a simple polymer buckle which is easy to use and then can be adjusted and there is also a little bit of elastic ation here to help fit around the body as you carry it further below. For the ladder locks, we do have metal hardware for these ladder locks so you can adjust the bag accordingly and at the very top we have a simple hoar handle. Now getting to the main compartment, it is enclosed by a d-ring that's attached to a spring-loaded clip and that allows us to open the roll top. If we take a close look to the top of the roll top, we can see that it's been snapped shut by these button snaps

 This really helps seal off the main compartment and help Gus at the top of the main compartment so that water won't get inside the compartment, which is really helpful. The snap buttons at the top of the roll top plus the roll top itself and also the polyurethane exterior really helps prevent water from getting inside the main compartment. Now inside the main compartment, there are no further pockets. It doesn't have access to the laptop compartment that's a separate compartment in Love itself and so I've just chucked in a whole slew of items inside

 so three tiny six-packs are able to fit into the roll-top rucksack. Hopefully that gives you a good indication of the size and what you can fit into this bag. Okay, so this is the roll-top rucksack on me. I'm 510, well ever on the reins

 I think it's like I said, more for day-to-day wear. Um, nothing too heavy and maybe not your laptop or your laptop if you have a thin and light one. So this is what it looks like on the front. And then as I said, you have the buckles

 like where it fits. Even though this is the mini, I feel like this bag is quite a good size and can fit a lot of things in it. Uh, which makes me think okay if I got the regular Msn which they also had on sale, I was kind of looking at this green pistachio color that would have been quite big because this is the minion. It's like compared to my body size, it's like a normal size backpack

 So for now at least based on the aesthetics and the features, I would recommend it. but let's see how it stands up against yeah day-to-day use and this one especially travel and hiking. So let's hope I start my hiking career soon. Okay, that's it

Rains Backpack Review & Try-on | Mini MSN & Roll Top Rucksack

 The straps are thin and unpadded - the advantage of this is that they simply wipe dry like the rest of the bag, and don't make you sweaty. I find them perfectly comfortable but have not tried carrying a very heavy load in the bag. I have not had/used this bag long enough to rate the durability, but it looks strong and well constructed. It's tall and thin, which means it doesn't look bulky but small items do tend to fall to the bottom

Smart and waterproof

 But the design is not feature oriented. The laptop is not supper protective and there are limited storage options. I think it is worth the money considering the 300$ bags out there.

 Compartments for phone on the back and inside for keys and bits. It’s very dark inside so is hard to see all my stuff haha. But honestly a great bag and good straps, always gotta have good straps. The magnets help the back keep its shape
