 Overall, the bag is in my opinion. again very very comfortable to wear. It doesn't weigh a lot even when it's filled up. See as you can see I'm holding it on one hand and for long trips, hikes, these kinds of things and again, mud runs, it's a great item to have

 behind the hydration pack is also another area where you can put some stuff and if you want and finally the last area is right over here. It might be a little bit too dark because the sun is shining, but you can hide some things in here which would benefit. I Wouldn't recommend putting anything and too important over here. Stick to these two compartments that I was talking about

And on a final note, whilst writing this review, I had the pack sitting next to me on the table and unbeknownst to me, the pack was leaking water all over the table due to the big round twist top being slightly twisted incorrectly. Not an easy twist on/off lid. Camelback, please change up your bladder design!

The ends of the adjustable straps are very long and there does not seem to be a spot to tuck them or clip them up, so they just flap in the wind, looking ridiculous.  Maybe someone smarter than me knows how to fix this.

The straps are not comfortable with some kind of hard piping that makes them very stiff, which dig into my armpit area, no matter how loose or tight I adjust.  The hose is only held in place by one clip and the end hose bounces terribly while riding.  A big pet peeve of mine.

I planned to use this pack for mountain biking. While it fits great and I hardly notice it when riding, I would like it to be larger (maybe 9 L). Once I throw a spare tube, CO2/ a pump, tire levers, snacks, and fill the water bladder, there's little room for an extra layer. For longer rides in the California heat, I would even prefer a larger bladder! I do wish Camelback would add a magnet for the hose attachment, so the bite value isn't flapping around when you ride

 You got these buckles on the back here with the tensioner straps very easy to use and offers a lot of leeway on what you can strap onto the back here. Whether that's gon na be like a shovel for avalanche stuff building. Snow cams, whether that's gon na, be like a sleeping pad really whatever you can strap slip-on super handy you've got some very robust, sleeping pad loops down here that I really like I like how also each of them have was independent and there's tighten to loosen independently, Because on the excess 58 they're connected - and it's totally system that works, but I prefer this a little bit better on the bottom. You'Ve got some nice reinforcement, very strong, very durable bottom and the whole thing is is made to be very durable

Osprey Aether Pro 70 Review

About the brand: I can recommend the smaller Osprey bags but I haven't been especially happy with the Aether 70, and I've had broken zips on several Osprey bags. They do have a great lifetime warranty, which is handy if you've got an Osprey returns facility nearby or can DIY repairs with spare parts they'll send, but I'd look at other brands too.

I'm planning on a trip this summer to Colorado to do some longer day hikes. I initially was looking into the Osprey Stratos 36 as a day pack/carry-on for the trip. 

Is this a good option for those uses? Is there a better option? I'm open to suggestions. 

I was hoping that whatever pack I get, I could use it occasionally to go camp overnight with a hammock.

Backpack choices for day hikes, carry-on, and occasional overnight hammock camping

 It is indeed heavy as other folks have mentioned, but the suspension is top notch and it doesn’t carry heavier on your back, in my opinion. If you’re carrying extra gear/weight from your wife, you’ll appreciate the beefier suspension. The daypack lid is a great feature—some say it’s a gimmick, but I’ve used it quite a bit for day hikes, summits, and fetching water for camp.

Getting an Osprey Aether plus 60 for my first pack. Good or bad?

 You bet these rear straps you've got two loops for ice axe attachments. You've got smaller loops in here for attaching. They call it like the Osprey Alpine Pocket I Believe are some other Osprey packs on the back of this if you wanted to bring like a smaller pack for a summit pack. I don't often do that, but the options there, that's really cool

 but a great day to take a look at a great pack. So first off, uh, what did I choose this pack for? It's really awesome. So you know that if you have any issues with your pack, you can send it in and you know that Osprey the company will help you and take care of their packs

  I am attaching 2 more straps to carry while leaving the 2 original unused (adding more weight).  The z straps on the sides are not as effective as 2 independent buckled straps for attaching heavy snowshoes (but I will make it work). All the straps are flimsy feeling.  When I lift the pack up holding the middle-top loop (no water, food, and snowshoes yet) it feel like it gonna cut my fingers (too slim)

  The 2 front straps are just too short.  They don’t even fit a regular Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol Sleeping Pad.  I am attaching 2 more straps to carry while leaving the 2 original unused (adding more weight).  The z straps on the sides are not as effective as 2 independent buckled straps for attaching heavy snowshoes (but I will make it work)

  This one hugs your back more but has no room in the bottom.  My old Aether 60 liter (S) fit my Garcia bear canister and my tent, and this S size not even close.  I tried a (M) size, fit better but the torso does not fit me.  So abandoned my original goal but tried to focus on the strength of this backpack, the water bottle on the hip belt pocket

 All the straps are flimsy feeling.  When I lift the pack up holding the middle-top loop (no water, food, and snowshoes yet) it feel like it gonna cut my fingers (too slim).  I also removed the 2 bottom straps and replaced with 2 stronger buckled straps to carry crampons because I believe the 2 original straps are hard to handle in single digit temperature environment.  Because I have a medical condition that needs water so I am giving it a try this weekend
