Bought the Manta about a month ago for my cycle commute - about an hour each way. I found a pack provides better stability than Paniers. I chose the Manta because it would comfortably fit my Surface Book laptop, and had a hydration bladder. I've used it about a month now and have the following observations

Check out the rough material on the Manta 24 shoulder straps. It chafes and abrades your neck. Bottom line.

Final note, I’m 6ft tall and originally bought the long back, I returned it for a regular…if you in between sizes give the smaller a go…it’s a better fit and the frame doesn’t hit the back of your head when you tilt your head to look up.

The waist belt is narrow, with minimal padding. I weigh 197 pounds. It might be fine for a smaller hiker, but the small belt gets tangled with my pants belt. I prefer a wider belt, maybe 1 and 1/2 inches thick

There is a small stash pocket on the right side waist strap. There is a shoulder zippered shoulder pocket (good for keys or snacks) and an open-top should pocket on the shoulder straps (good for a small GPS or monocular).

The straps really take a load off and the actual material/ mesh on my back is extremely breathable and does not make me sweat as much as I should. The pockets on the shoulder straps and waist straps are great for your phone, portable charger, etc.. last but not least, I have plenty of space in the bag even after a change of clothes, so I’m sure it will still be great for an overnight trip! Also, I purchased the rain cover as well, and the small fits perfectly on it

The hip pads are also great. They're actually functional in helping carry the weight. The pockets are not too small and easily carry a couple of energy bars as well as M&M's/jerky/etc.
