Topo Designs Travel Bag 30L vs Cotopaxi Allpa 28L Travel Pack

I’ve had their everyday backpack 20L and 30L, their travel backpack, the 5L and 10L sling bags and every single one of them were woefully under built in the strap department. They are okay if empty in the store but as soon as they have a load, they are a huge pain. As cool as their bags are, I wouldn’t ever consider them anymore.

* [Topo Designs Global Travel Bag Not a huge fan of this look, but it technically checks all of my boxes. There are also some concerns here about the slim water bottle pocket, but I saw a review specifically stating that this worked well for somebody with a similar frame to mine.

My only complaints are the laptop compartment and lack of luggage strap/pass-through. As other reviews have mentioned, it’s difficult sliding my 13” MacBook Pro in sideways when the bag is packed. If the compartment had a bit more structure/separation from the main interior it could be a bit easier. I also feel the lack of luggage pass-through was a miss, especially since there’s already a panel to tuck away the shoulder & waist straps

Between the weird layouts of the side pockets on the 20l zip that (in my opinion) fold out the wrong way, and the rear pouch that is just too hard to access once the main bag is full, I’m happy to see peak design have just popped zipper pockets inside the main case of the 30l for organising stuff you don’t need in transit and a much easier to access pocket at the front. - Better through hiking comparability.

I really like the compartments. You might still use packing cubes, but if you're not going nuts the zippered mesh actually does a nice job all on its own.

I bought it to be my one allowed carry-on for a JetBlue flight but it's too long to fit under the seat in front of me. Luckily no one made me move it to the overhead bin (which costs extra). So it's size makes it not great for that purpose. Then I tried using it for a weekend car trip
