There is only one "big" compartment and one very small half-compartment on the front, so it's not possible to stay organized with all of the little things that kids need to carry to school these days. Frankly, I was a bit concerned about the comfort of the Mainpack especially with the Daypack attached (after all, it makes an already large bag gigantic). However, I’m happy to report that the design of the shoulder straps (which also feature load lifters), coupled with an excellent back panel, sternum strap, and a beefy waist belt make for a surprisingly comfortable carry, even over an extended period of time.

Nice looking backpack just not practical for a college student. It's not big enough to pack books in addition to laptop & any other items you may need for the day. The biggest issue was this is not in any way water resistant. College students are walking on campus rain or shine didn't realize there would be no protection at all & arrive to class with paper homework wet & an English book's pages all damp too

A bag of this size should come standard with both of the missing features I mentioned. It doesn’t make sense for someone to load this is for a day hike and have the bag moving around because it lacks a proper hip belt. All of these features would make the pack more versatile and allow you to transition from EDC to a hiking day pack.

The other bags I was considering was F-stop and Shimoda Design. Mainly cuz they are designed for hiking thus translate well to comfort. But unfortunately the two brands are much more expensive and do not have retail store in my country selling them, so I could not try on the bags in person.

I have a 16" mbook pro and have had to switch over to the Mystery Ranch 2 day assault pack to carry it. Ugh..

I don't think it will be full, so maybe it could squish down into an overhead bin or under the seat? I definitely would like to have a carry on because unfortunately, I will have several connections and don't want to risk losing it. My only other backpack is a North Face Jester which I use for every day commuting to work. I think I would be able to fit everything if I packed wisely.

This shouldn't be too surprising though since it's advertised as a tactical pack. Though a 17" laptop will not fit in the laptop pocket, it will fit awkwardly within the main cargo area. I have a beefy Alienware 17" laptop with dimensions that exceed 17" and was able to easily fit it within the main section of the pack, but I think you would need a protective sleeve for your 17" laptop because despite the low weight of the pack, the netted pockets within it are quite heavy duty and somewhat abrasive. You could however fit the brick with cord in the laptop pocket unless of course you were going for battery power only

I am riding my bike to work, and this pack can carry everything I need for my shift. It does not interfere with my ability to ride or cause me any backaches throughout my trip. Finally I have used it as a range bag, which can carry all of my shooting supplies needed. Glad I bought it and recommend it for those with an active lifestyle
