Carry-on

Incase EO Travel Backpack

(1/20)

We really like the sternum strap on this bag. It’s pretty much permanently attached, so it won’t get lost. And there’s a bit of elastic that gives the sternum strap some flexibility to move with you when walking. We’ve found that straps designed like this are a lot more comfortable to wear than ones without the elastic

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Pack - Men's

(1/46)

The straps of the main pack are easy to stow away to make a clean item for checked luggage if you want. I give this 4/5 stars, as I cannot speak for long-term durability against rips or tears, or to how well it fits in more restrictive airlines' carryon requirements (you may consider a slightly smaller 35L pack for long-term globe-trotting). But for the majority of travelers it is going to be more than sufficient and I honestly found how liberating it is to travel with far less than I used to.

1. Use better water resistant material, especially at the bottom. Zippers feel okay, but can be better. Clips are cheap

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Pack - Men's

(1/13)

I just hate being stressed about it so I switched for the smaller girl size, which is still plenty of room. If you put too much stuff in the small bag and try to attach it, you'll stress and eventually break the zipper. That's why I ended up getting the replacement, because the zipper broke and they replaced the whole bag for me, and that was after a year.

Good quality, ergonomics and roominess. For a 1-5 day trip the best solution.

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Pack - Men's

(1/13)

This pack was amazing at achieving this! I hate packs with tons of straps hanging all over the place and this was as minimal as I could get while still including an adjustable hip belt. The hip belt adjusted super nicely and that was also important because my husband carried it sometimes and he's 6'5.5 and I'm 5'4 and we were both really impressed with how we could carry it with ease. The daypack is something I use close to every single day at this point

ii) make the front pocket (with the sleek horizontal zipper) big, into both the top and the bottom of the bag.

It also has two outer mesh compartments and 4 other compartments of various sizes. The zippers have rings on them allowing you to lock them with a padlock or loop a wire lock through them (note that older versions didn’t have this). The main bag has a mesh compartment for storing loose items, and internal compression straps let you bunch up and tighten anything inside.

The folks at Incase frame their designs around “protection and mobility to meet the evolving demands of today’s creatives.” Basically, they want to make sure your laptop is safe. And they specifically focus on those creatives who use Apple products—but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Pack - Men's

I carry my MacBook Air with me everywhere. It fits in the laptop spot of the little pack super easily and seems excellently protected there. I've taken dozens of flights with this to several countries in Europe, several in Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, and several in Central America. I have the S/M size pack

Osprey Farpoint 55 Travel Pack - Men's

(1/21)

This pack is nicely water resistant, but I still bought a waterproof cover to go with it. I also wanted a pack big enough to take it with me for travel for less than 5 days. The Farpoint 55 is 24” long and 24” is the max length for a carry on bag on Southwest, so I felt comfortable with the size of the bag. I was inside ring the smaller 40l model, but the big selling point for me was the small zip out day pack that comes with the 55 and 80l models

The negative reviews mostly reflect people who confuse this with a "proper" backpack. This is the pack you use for getting from your arrival gate to ground transportation, from the bus to the hostel, from the subway to the hotel, etc. It's not meant for hiking the Appalachian Trail.
