Zipper

GoRuck GR1

(1/2)

We see this as a huge bonus and we’ve really enjoyed them on the other GORUCK packs we’ve tested. It’s just nice to know you’re making as little noise as possible when you’re, say, walking into a hostel late at night or moving through a library. (Some of those librarians are not messing around.) Plus, they’re pretty nice zipper pulls

The GR3 does not have this issue because the rain flaps are not as thick. Another GORUCK signature design are those silent zipper pulls. The heat shrink wrapped zipper pulls look great, and they are easy to grab because of their length. Blame it on the dry winter weather perhaps, but I find them slightly slippery

Carry-on

No frills, it’s a handle that works—which is kind of like a metaphor for this pack... Whoa

The GR3 is bigger and has a capacity for two layers of packing cubes with neat external components, while the GR2 has more interior organization. The GR3 is the most oversized possible carry-on at 45L, and you can travel the world for a month or even more, specially if you use the waist belt to reduce your carry.

Comfort

GoRuck GR1

Excellent quality, comfortable, main compartment opens all the way, not many but well laid out internal pockets, very good protection for laptop. Stands up when placed on floor.

This is great. It has plenty of room for my camera gear, plus all my clothes that I may need. Great for one-bag travel, very comfortable. Supports the weight very well

The beefy frame sheet on the GORUCK GR3 helps to protect your laptop and your back!

Commute

I use to have more pockets in my bag so it took some time to get use to it, but now I feel much better for my commute and travel, especially thanks to the « high-profile » limiting the depth of the pack, and so the struggle during crowded commuting. It takes some time to break it in, but it feels like it will last forever.

I am a former grunt and work for the railroad, traveling on a weekly basis and most of the time through the airport. I've had this bad for a year and a half now and it has never failed me. Super tough! Thanks to this ruck, I don't need to check a bag on a normal weekly basis. Flew in to Nebraska today and the pics show what I brought with me this time

Size

GoRuck GR1

I needed a larger bag for my laptop, Notebooks, and ect… Both bags are built like tanks. I use the bullet as my tool bag. Go Ruck bags sit high and tight to the back. Great fit and weight distribution

Compared to the GR2, the GR3 is a big bag that doesn’t have small embedded pockets simply because it is intended for long-term travelers. The slash pocket is on the outside that goes down to the bottom of the pack.
