Arc'teryx Granville Zip 16 Pack vs Arc'teryx Aerios 15 Pack - Women's

I’ve been using the Arc’teryx Granville 16, I’ve had it for a couple of years as one of my commute bags but find I use it more often than not because it’s so light, minimal and waterproof (one of my main criteria living in Scotland). I think there’s a small lashing point at the bottom (for a bike light) and handy quick access external pocket at the top, alongside a bigger one at the front that you can get to through a big vertical zip. Would easily swallow your main carry items with a decent amount of space left over I reckon!

Although she’s a high quality bag, she sings along trail in annoyingly mid-toned squeaking. With every step that’s taken, the area where the shoulder straps meet the top of the bag let out a wail so persistent it drowns out the quietude of the mountains, for which I ventured forth. Sadly, this synthetic beauty’s going back to her maker to hopefully find a better use of her shiny gray parts.

SIZING: I am 5'9 (175cm), my torso length comes in at 18 inches and the Regular size fits me almost perfectly. Arc'teryx advertise it as an 18.5 inch torso length pack and I think that is accurate.

There is this nifty little zipper on the inside that allows access to the front side-zip compartment form the main compartment (zipper shown in the laptop detail picture). Speaking about the side zip, it provides easy access on the go by just swinging one side of the strap off your shoulder and around your body. Super convenient. Well made, great quality however the shoulder straps are too thin and the material they’re made of is a bit slippery so if you have it over one shoulder it’s consistently slipping off and needs adjustment. The back of the bag could do with some padding and the shape is a bit odd. Weirdly top heavy looking. And the grab handle on the top is a bit thin

It was comfortable, and I liked the bucket/roll-down feature of the bag closure - it was really easy to open and root through. The side zip also a convenient feature.

Unfortunately, the laptop sleeve on this bag is incredibly small and doesn't come close to fitting my 15" Surface Book 2.
